Just three old friends, caught in a glass cage of emotion (fishbowl?) trying to use our time, resources, energy and pent-up frustrations in a positive and productive way. Drunk Guppy came to life after several years of menopausal, empty-nesty (kind of....there are always boomerangs, parents, husbands, pets, and really high-maintenance houseplants), isolated pandemic life. All of that brewing energy had to go somewhere besides bunco and bingo nights. We eventually found ourselves beached on the shores of The Drunk Guppy Nation, where we save otherwise discarded garments and fabrics from a final "landfill goodbye"...breathing new life and beauty into this fashionably fun wearable art.

Standard guppies are peaceful, easy-going community fish who tend to mix well with other guppies. They are low maintenance and easy to feed. Female guppies have larger brains than their male counterparts, and surround themselves with other like-minded guppies when feeling threatened (or perhaps unappreciated?) Guppies are one of the smartest fish you can keep. They are quite beautiful with their vibrant colors and beautiful fin shapes... until about age 50 when everything seems to go to pot. This is about the time that a guppy may become a "drunk guppy." Exhausted and worn out from a lifetime of tending to others' needs, the guppy begins to question the reason for her existence, and slowly becomes increasingly attracted to box wine, true crime, exotic skin care serums, tedious crafting projects and the occasional flea market. If she happens to enter the "Drunk Guppy" stage of life during a pandemic, she may have mistakingly come to think of herself as a 'whale', forgetting that despite being isolated and inactive for 2+ years, she is in fact still a beautiful and relevant creature. ❤︎
